The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at Sri Krishna College of Engineering (SKCE) is a vibrant and progressive hub of learning. Established with a vision to create competent engineers in the power and energy sector, the department has consistently delivered excellence in teaching, research, and industrial collaboration. With well-qualified faculty, modern laboratories, and innovative teaching methodologies, the department prepares students to handle the growing demands of power systems, electronics, automation, and renewable energy technologies.

About the Course

The B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering program offers a balanced curriculum that covers the generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy, along with electronics, control systems, and communication aspects. The course integrates both theoretical fundamentals and practical applications, enabling students to contribute effectively in industries such as power, manufacturing, IT, electronics, automation, and renewable energy.

About the Curriculum

The program follows Anna University and AICTE guidelines, offering a structured blend of fundamentals and advanced subjects. Key areas include:

  • Core subjects : Electrical Machines, Power Electronics, Power Systems, Control Engineering, Measurements & Instrumentation, Renewable Energy Systems, Microprocessors & Microcontrollers.
  • Laboratory practice : Electrical Machines Lab, Power Electronics Lab, Control & Instrumentation Lab, Simulation & Design Lab.
  • Industry exposure : Internships, industrial visits, and mini-projects for practical knowledge.
  • Software & tools : MATLAB, PSCAD, and simulation tools for electrical design and analysis.
  • Electives : Students can specialize in smart grids, energy management, robotics, IoT in power systems, and high-voltage engineering.

About the Laboratory

The EEE department is supported by modern and well-equipped laboratories that provide hands-on learning:

  • Electrical Machines Lab – Study of DC/AC machines and transformers.
  • Power Electronics Lab – Applications of converters, inverters, and motor drives.
  • Control & Instrumentation Lab – Experiments on sensors, controllers, and industrial automation.
  • Power Systems Simulation Lab – Load flow, fault analysis, and stability studies using software tools.
  • Microprocessor & Microcontroller Lab – Programming and interfacing for automation applications.

These labs ensure that students gain practical exposure and develop confidence to work in power, automation, and electronics industries.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 / HSC with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • Admission is based on Anna University counseling (TNEA) or as per Tamil Nadu Government norms.
  • Diploma holders in Electrical/Electronics streams are eligible for lateral entry into the second year.
